Women's Volleyball Week 3



White Mules defeat Polar Bears, 3-0



WATERVILLE, Me. - In the second home match of the year, the women's volleyball team hosted the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College, in a non-conference match, and won the match, 3-0.

The White Mules were led offensively by junior Laurel Burnham (Bailey's Harbor, WI) who had 12 kills in the match; and by sophomore middles Johanna Schroeder (Salmon, ID), 8 kills and 2 serving aces and Abby Stella (Westfield, MA), 8 kills and 3 serving aces. Senior captain Amanda Cuiffo (Waban, MA) added to the Colby offense with 10 kills and 2 serving aces and also led the defense with 17 digs. Also aiding the defense was junior Melanie Newton (Kalamazoo, MI) with 16 digs.

Sophomore Kimberly Prescott (Buena Park, CA) had 29 assists in the match and also beat her previous record of 6 serving aces in a match of four games with 6 serving aces in a match of three games.

The Colby College White Mules are back in action this weekend September 21-22, 2001, as they travel to Amherst College for the Amherst Invitational.
