Candice Parent, Head Coach Candice Parent has been involved with the Colby volleyball program since the fall of 1993 and begins her 12th season as head coach in 2005. Her program was honored in 2005 and 2002 when Parent was named NESCAC Coach of the Year. Parent has helped the Mules to four straight 20-plus win seasons from 2002 to 2005, including a 37-4 record and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament last year. In 1997 and 2001 her colleagues selected her as the Maine State Coach of the Year. In December 1999 Parent was selected as the female recipient of the Rick Pierce Award, a regional award based on sportsmanship, competitiveness, and volunteerism given out annually by the Yankee Volleyball Association. Parent continues to play volleyball at the highest-level tournaments in New England through the USA Volleyball Association and each year she participates in the USA Volleyball Nationals at various sites across the country. Parent and her husband, Mark, are the parents of three children -- Emily, Matthew and Daniel. He has coached each year with head coach Candice Parent, his wife, to make up one of the top husband-wife coaching teams in any sport in New England. Mark Parent has helped the Mules to more than 100 wins over the past four years and has helped Candice Parent turn the program into a national power the past few years. Cait Cleaver, Assistant CoachCait Cleaver is a 2006 Colby graduate and is the greatest volleyball player in the history of the program. She helped the Mules to a 104-33 record over the past four years and helped Colby reach the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time last year. Cleaver earned third team All-America honors and was the first Colby player to earn a spot on one of the three teams. She was the NESCAC Player of the Year last season and was a four-time all-conference selection. Cleaver is Colby’s all-time leader in career kills (1,562) and defensive digs (1,648). She also had solid totals of 265 blocks and 197 service aces. Cleaver helped last year’s Colby team finish 37-4 and end up 19th in the final national poll.
