WATERVILLE, Maine --- Eight Colby College student-athletes were named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference Winter All-Sportsmanship Team on Tuesday.

Colby's selections were: first-year men's basketball player Patrick Stewart (Bangor, Maine), senior women's basketball player Jacky McLaughlin (Medfield, Mass.), senior men's hockey player Jacob Billiar (Columbus, Ohio), senior women's hockey player Kathy Shei (Inverness, Ill.), first-year men's squash player CJ Smith (Locust Valley, N.Y.), senior women's squash player Kate Pistel (Amherst, Mass.), junior men's swimmer Colin McLaughlin (Farmington, Conn.), and senior women's swimmer Leah Walpuck (Bethesda, Md.).

Pistel, a four-time All-NESCAC selection in women's squash, earned the all-sportsmanship honor for the third straight year. Smith is the other Colby athlete to earn all-conference and all-sportsmanship honors.

Smith and Stewart were two of just six first-year athletes of the 85 players selected for the honor from around the NESCAC. Smith joins brother, Harry '12, and sister, Samantha '10, as all-league and all-sportsmanship honorees.

Jacky McLaughlin, Colin McLaughlin, Shei, and Billiar made the all-sportsmanship team for the first time.

The NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team recognizes student-athletes from each varsity sport who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to sportsmanship. The team was created by the NESCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Honorees were selected by the players and coaches from their respective teams.
