Massie, Biedermann lead alpine teams in season opener

NEWRY, Maine --- Marc Masie led three Colby College men's skiers in the top 21 and Natalie Biedermann finished in 16th for the women at the Bates College Carnival at Sunday River on Friday.
 
Massie finished in 12th place with a two-run time of 2:31.52, while teammate Will Randall also had a good season debut by taking 18th in 2:32.25. Brian Morgan finished 21st in 2:33.20 as the Mules placed fifth out of 12 teams with 74 points.
 
Biedermann had a fine day with a 2:36.60 over her two runs as the women took seventh place. Brittney Ziebell also was strong in 22nd place in 2:38.44, Cassady Roberts took 28th with a 2:40.90, and Jeanne Barthold was 34th in her first collegiate meet in 2:43.22.
