Massie in top 10 again for alpine skiers

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. --- Colby College men's alpine skier Marc Massie made it two top-10 finishes in one carnival after placing seventh in the giant slalom at the Middlebury Carnival in Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association action Saturday at the Snow Bowl.

Massie, who was 10th in the slalom on Friday, had runs of 1:01.19 and 1:02.45 for a two-run clocking of 2:03.64. His showing helped the men's team place fourth with a score of 74.


Craig Marshall took 24th place for the Mules in 2:06.02 and teammate Sam Glaisher was 30th in 2:07.20. Colby's Jim Ryan had a 1:01.38 on his first run, but did not finish his second trip.
 
The Colby women placed seventh behind a 17th-place finish from Paige Whistler, who had a 2:13.42 two-run total. Cassady Roberts took 20th place in 2:13.71 and Brittney Ziebell was 28th.

Colby will ski for a third straight day in the slalom at the Dartmouth Carnival on Sunday. That race was postponed earlier this season.
