Four to head to NCAA meet, Roberts and McKenna excel

BETHEL, Maine --- The Colby College men's alpine team will have a full team of three at the NCAA Skiing Championships and Cassady Roberts will represent the women after the conclusion of the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championships on Saturday at Sunday River.

Marc Massie, Jim Ryan, and Craig Marshall head to Middlebury College along with Roberts for the Division I meet from March 6-9 for head coach Danny Noyes.

Roberts finished in 11th place in the slalom at the Eastern Championships with runs of 58.97 and 1:05.14 for a two-run total time of 2:04.11. Colby teammate Paige Whistler ended a fine first season with the Mules, finishing just behind Roberts in 12th place at 2:04.21 (59.73, 1:04.48) to help the Mules place fifth in the team standings. Destrey Enders was 24th for Colby in 2:06.67.

The good news for the Colby men did not overshadow the performance of the season for Matt McKenna, who placed 11th in the slalom Saturday in 2:01.50 (1:00.35, 1:01.15) over two runs. Marshall broke in the top 20 by placing 20th in 2:02.82 and Sam Glaisher finished 24th in 2:04.72. Massie had problems on his first run and finished 43rd, while Ryan did not finish his second run. The Colby men placed sixth in the team scoring.
