Marshall, Massie help men's alpine team finish second

STOWE, Vt. --- Colby College sophomore Craig Marshall had his best Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association finish by taking fourth place and senior teammate Marc Massie was sixth as the Mules placed second in the slalom at the University of Vermont Carnival on Saturday.

Marshall finished with runs of 53.95 and 54.76 for a two-run total time of 1:48.71. Meanwhile, Massie had trips of 54.57 and 54.36 for a total of 1:48.93. The pair helped Colby finish with 102.5 points, trailing winner University of New Hampshire (104) by less than two points in the 12-team field.

Sam Glaisher made it three Colby men in the top 15 by taking 15th place in 1:50.90. 

For the Colby women, Paige Whistler helped the Mules take seventh place in the slalom by placing 12th in 1:55.26 over her two runs. Jeanne Barthold was 31st for Colby.

Colby stands in fifth place overall after the alpine competition with 279.5 points. The Nordic portion of the Vermont event is February 2-3.
