BETHEL, Maine --- The Colby College men's alpine ski team finished in fourth place in the giant slalom thanks to two top-10 performances by Marc Massie and Jim Ryan at the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) Championships on Friday at Sunday River.

The Mules had a score of 91 in the 15-team field, while the Colby women took eighth place behind a 12th-place finish by Cassady Roberts.

Massie has been Colby's top skier this winter and came up with another strong performance in taking sixth place in a two-run total time of 2:35.67 (1:18.53 and 1:17.14). He has already secured a spot in the upcoming NCAA Skiing Championships at Middlebury College from March 6-9.

Ryan came up big by taking eighth place in 2:36.07 (1:18.41, 1:17.66). He currently sits in the final spot for the NCAA meet, but will need to wait until Saturday's slalom is over to see if he heads to Middlebury.

Colby finished with four men in the top 30, as Matt McKenna was 23rd in 2:37.81 and Sam Glaisher clocked a 2:38.96 for 29th place.

Roberts also is close to making the NCAA meet and will need a strong run in the slalom tomorrow. She had trips of 1:21.43 and 1:20.81 for a two-run total time of 2:42.24. Paige Whistler had another solid finish in taking 17th place in 2:42.80 and Destrey Enders was 28th with a 2:44.64.
