WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College sophomore goaltender Sarah Evans (Milton Academy/Cohasset, Mass.), who led NCAA Division III in save percentage, was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American First Team on Monday.

Evans is Colby's first-ever first team All-American and the third player in program history to earn national honors. Colby's Wendy Bonner '05 became the school's first-ever player to earn All-American honors three times in 2002, 2003 and 2004 as a forward. She made the third team in 2002 and 2003 before earning second team honors in 2004. Katie Taylor '98 was Colby's first All-American in 1996 as a defender.

Evans had already earned NFHCA New England West First Team honors and was on the first team for the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).

Evans was first in the country in save percentage (.860). She also was first in the NESCAC in fewest goals allowed (15), ranked third in goals against average (1.12), and was fifth in total saves (92). Evans was the lone goalie in the conference in the top five in save percentage, goals against average, and saves per game.

Evans helped Colby finish fifth in a conference which had four teams in the top five in the country at one point. The Mules finished with a 9-6 record.
