Deavers helps field hockey hold off Husson, 3-2

BANGOR, Maine --- Charlotte Deavers scored two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half to give Colby College a 3-0 lead and then the Mules had to hold off Husson University the rest of the way in a 3-2 non-conference field hockey victory on Tuesday night.
 
The Mules improve to 2-7 overall and Husson falls to 7-5.
 
Colby led 1-0 at halftime when Lauren Zion tallied at 27:16 off an assist from back Kelly Roth.
 
Deavers then scored off a penalty corner at 37:15 thanks to an assist from teammate Courtney Erskine. Deavers had the second goal just 2:15 later off a pass from Caroline Chessare for what seemed like a comfortable lead.
 
The Eagles, though, scored two goals off penalty corners to make it a wild finish. Lori Hiltz tallied at 55:26 for the first goal and Sabrina Vaillancourt made it a one-goal game at 63:11.
 
Colby, which had a 29-14 shot advantage, received five saves from Michelle Burt.
