Field hockey ends season with 1-0 setback

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College goaltender Michelle Burt (Woodbridge, Conn.) finished the season with 108 saves after making four stops Wednesday, but Bates College scored the lone goal of the game in a 1-0 victory in NESCAC play.
 
Polly Merck (Beverly, Mass.) scored about four minutes into the second half and goaltender Becca Otley (Cumberland, Maine) earned the shutout for the Bobcats.

Bates finishes up at 4-10 overall and 2-8 in the conference, while Colby also closes out the season at 4-10 overall and was 1-9 in the league.
 
Merck scored at 39:02 in a scramble in front of the net.
