BIDDEFORD, Maine --- Michelle Burt posted the shutout and Ellie Donohue finished with a pair of goals as the Colby College field hockey team won 3-0 over University of New England in non-conference play Wednesday night.
Megan Fortier chipped in with one goal and one assist for the Mules, now 2-2 overall. Donohue and Fortier, two first-year players for the Mules, have six of Colby's seven goals.
Burt was a big difference in the game with 10 saves as the Nor'easters (3-3) had a 16-10 shot advantage and a 13-5 margin in penalty corners. UNE keeper Kaitlyn Warren made just three saves.
Fortier picked up her second game-winning goal of the season with the first goal of the contest just 1:28 into play off a rebound. Just 20 seconds later, Donohue slipped past Warren for her first goal off a pass from Fortier.
The Mules also scored quickly at the start of the second half when Caroline Keaveney drove a shot that was deflected by Donohue for the goal.
Colby heads to Tufts University for a 1 p.m. game Saturday.
