NEW LONDON, Conn. -- The Colby College field hockey team opened up a 2-0 lead early in the second half only to have Connecticut College battle back for a 3-2 victory in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.

Colby (0-1 overall, 0-1 NESCAC) did have first-year players Megan Fortier (Falmouth, Maine) and Ellie Donohue (Andover, Mass.) score their first collegiate goals. Fortier scored with 9:53 left in the opening half for the lone goal of the opening 35 minutes. Donohue tallied just two minutes into the second half to give the Mules what appeared to be some momentum.

However, the Camels bounced back quickly when Brittany Fitzgerald scored just 3:30 after Donohoe's goal. Jennifer Morgan tied the game at 2-2 with 13:45 to play and Heidi Halsted put Conn College up for good with just 3:59 left to play.

Sophomore goaltender Becca Napolitano made seven stops in the Camel win, while Colby junior Michelle Burt finished with 10 saves.
