Golf team has fine first day at NESCAC Qualifier

AMHERST, Mass. --- The Colby College golf team is in reach of making the New England Small College Athletic Conference Golf Championships after a solid first day at the NESCAC Qualifier on Saturday.
 
The Mules are tied for fifth place with Amherst College at 321, with the top four teams moving on to play in the NESCAC tourney this spring. Middlebury College is in fourth place with a score of 314.
 
Taggie Martin shot a 78 and is in 15th place heading into Sunday's final round on the par-72 course. Pete Gabranski, who shot an 80, and Martin both had a 38 on their back nine. Craig Marshall had a fne day with an 81 and Tripp Huber carded an 82. Marshall and Huber both had a 39 on the front nine.
