Hancock to be inducted into Maine Sports HOF

BANGOR, Maine --- Colby College men's basketball great Matt Hancock will be one of eight new members of the Maine Sports Hall of Fame when the new inductees are honored at the 37th Annual Awards Banquet on May 20 at the Bangor Civic Center at noon.
Tickets are $45 and may be reserved by calling 207-680-6914. A reserved table for 10 is $400. Tickets may be purchased until May 15. Dick Whitmore, former head men's basketball coach at Colby and Hancock's coach, will be the emcee for the event.
Hancock, a 1990 graduate, scored a school record 2,678 points in his four-year career from 1987 to 1990. He was the NCAA Division III Player of the Year as a senior and a three-time All-American. He still holds/shares school records in 14 categories.
The rest of the inductees are: Walter H. Abbott (Orono), Phillip A. Coulombe (Sidney), Emily Jo Ellis (Bangor), Edward Guiski (Kennebunk), Dennis Libbey (Bangor), Howard S. Vandersea (Brunswick), and Dana E. Wilson (Brewer).
