WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's basketball team started the game strong, but Tufts University used a big rebounding advantage and received 13 points and 14 boards from Tom Palleschi (Haverhill, Mass.) on the way to a 70-63 win over the Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Tufts had a big weekend in Maine, beating Bowdoin College on Friday night, in moving to 8-7 overall and 2-2 in league play. Colby dropped to 4-9 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Tufts had a 41-28 advantage on the boards and pulled down 17 offensive rebounds, with many leading straight to easy baskets.

Colby led by as much as nine points (14-5) about 10 minutes into the first half and still led 19-14 with 6:38 to play. Tufts, though, started taking control with their rebounding and went on a 14-5 run over the last 4:14 of the half for a 28-24 lead.

With the Jumbos up 36-30 early in the second half, Haladyna nailed a 3-point shot with 14:20 to play. Palleschi scored on a 3-point play with 13:26 to go and Haladyna followed with two free throws for a 44-30 margin with 12:42 remaining.
