Men's basketball drops league game at Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The Colby College men's basketball team fell behind 28-20 at halftime and then allowed Bowdoin College a big second half in a 67-40 loss in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
 
Colby falls to 6-12 overall and 1-5 in the conference, while Bowdoin moves to 13-5 overall and 3-3 in the league.
 
Eric Beaulieu had eight points and six rebounds to lead the Mules. Shane Rogers also had eight points, while Alex Swanson finished with seven points and five rebounds.
 
Andrew Madlinger had a game-high 18 points for the Polar Bears. Maximilian Staiger and John Swords both had 10 points for the winners. Will Hanley added nine points and game-highs of seven rebounds and eight assists.
 
The Mules only trailed 31-25 when Beaulieu hit a jumper with 17:33 left in the game. Bowdoin quickly answered with an 8-0 scoring run to go up 39-25 with 15:17 to play. The Polar Bears extended the lead to 48-27 over the next three minutes and pulled away.
