Foreman has huge day in setback to Wesleyan

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Scoring balance by the Wesleyan University men's basketball team won over a collegiate-high 34 points from Colby College's Ben Foreman (Los Angeles, Califl.) as the Cardinals took a 76-70 win in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
 
The Cardinals move to 19-5 overall and 7-3 in NESCAC play. Colby drops to 6-17 overall and 1-9 in the league.
 
Shasha Brown (Harlem, N.Y.) had a team-high 16 points and six assists to lead the Cardinals. Mike Callaghan (Madison, Conn.) added 15 points, eight rebounds, and four assists for the winners. Julian Harris (New Hartford, Conn.) and Derick Beresford (Hampton, Ga.) each had 12 points, while Jason Mendell (Bedford, N.Y.) finished with 11 points.
 
Colby started the game on a tear and took a 13-2 lead. The Mules still led 20-10 when the Cardinals used a 21-10 run to end the half and take a 31-30 margin at halftime.
 
The Mules' last lead of the game was at 33-31 with 19:11 to play. Wesleyan went on a 17-7 run over the next five minutes to take a 48-40 lead with 14:09 to play. The Mules stayed within 10 points most of the half and got as close as four points at 74-70 when Foreman nailed a 3-point shot with 12 seconds left. Brown, though, hit two free throws three seconds later for the final points.
 
Foreman nailed eight 3-point shots and also finished with four assists. Eric Beaulieu (Concord, Mass.) added 14 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals for the Mules. Kyle Donovan (Portland, Maine) finished with nine points and eight rebounds, while Shane Rogers (Newburgh, N.Y.) had six points and six assists.
