Hudnut earns third Maine rookie weekly honor

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Chris Hudnut (Chevy Chase, Md.) earned the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Rookie of the Week honor for the third time this season after securing the award for the week ending Feb. 18.

Against the second-ranked team in the country, Hudnut had 21 points, 13 rebounds, and a pair of blocked shots in a NESCAC quarterfinal setback to Amherst College. Hudnut helped Colby reach the NESCAC playoffs with 14 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two assists in a victory over Connecticut College.

Hudnut, despite missing two games while ill, led Colby in scoring at 12.9 points per game and ranked 16th in the conference. He was one of just two first-year players in the top 20 in scoring in the league. Hudnut also averaged 5.3 rebounds and led the Mules in blocks (18 total), made free throws (61), and was second in 3-point shooting (.382, 21-for-55).
