WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College center Chris Hudnut (Lawrenceville/Chevy Chase, Md.), who averaged 18.7 points in three games last week, was named the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Rookie of the Week on Wednesday.
Hudnut earned the Maine Rookie of the Week honor for the second time this season. Colby teammate Luke Westman also was honored this year.
Hudnut also averaged 7.3 rebounds, shot 63 percent from the field, and 71 percent (5-for-7) from 3-point range. He made the all-tournament team at Springfield College's Naismith Classic.
Hudnut had 24 points on 11-for-16 shooting and added eight rebounds in a 74-50 win against Roger Williams in the consolation game at the Springfield tourney. In his first-ever New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) game, Hudnut had a collegiate-high 25 points on 9-for-12 shooting and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 69-65 win against Hamilton College.
In the win against Hamilton, Colby led 27-15 in the first half when Hudnut went to the bench with his second foul. Hamilton went on an 18-0 run after that to go ahead at halftime.
Hudnut leads Colby in scoring (12.7), 3-point field goal percentage (.409), and blocked shots (8). He also is second in rebounding (5.6).
