Men's cross country has best league finish since 2003

BRUNSWICK, Maine --- The Colby College men's cross country team had the best finish at a New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship meet since 2003 after taking ninth place at Bowdoin College on Saturday.
 
The Mules finished in fourth place during the 2003 season, but had been 10th or 11th place the past eight years. Colby was 11th in 2010, moved to 10th last season, and now breaks into a single digit placing at nine.
 
The Mules had a score of 241 and were 40 points ahead of the 10th place team. Colby sophomore Jeff Hale had the best finish for his team at 40th in 25 minutes, 41.09 seconds. Charlie Coffman took 46th place in 25:48.71, senior captain Brian Desmond took 55th in 26:10.32, Ben Lester was 62nd with a 26:24.87, Will McCarthy took 66th at 26:28.1, and Chase Brown was 73rd with a 26:36.89.
