Strahorn '02 named head coach of Colby men's basketball program (05/24/2011)

Damien Strahorn ’02, who played under Colby’s legendary men’s basketball coach Dick Whitmore and was his assistant, will take over as the new head coach of the Colby men’s basketball team.

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Dick Whitmore, one of the all-time leaders in NCAA Division III men's basketball for career victories and one of the top 50 winning coaches in all divisions, announced March 15 that he is stepping down. Whitmore spent his entire coaching career – 40 years at the Maine college and finished with 637-341 record. He is seventh all-time in career wins among NCAA Division III men's basketball coaches and began the 2010-11 season ranked 46th in all NCAA divisions for career wins.

Russell, Van Loenen named all-state (03/11/2011)
WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College's Mike Russell (Wellesley, Mass.) and Christian Van Loenen (Falmouth, Maine) were both named to the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) All-State Team on Friday.

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Despite another milestone for Colby College's Mike Russell (Wellesley, Mass.), fourth-ranked Williams College scored 49 points in the second half, including 16 from James Wang (Sydney, Australia), on the way to a 79-50 victory over Colby College in NESCAC men's basketball Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Christian Van Loenen (Falmouth, Maine) had a game-high 22 points for Colby College, but the eighth-ranked Middlebury College men's basketball team used a big size advantage to block 10 shots and hold Colby College to 26 percent shooting in the game as the Panthers took a 73-52 win in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.

Men's basketball blanks Southern Maine in overtime period in victory (02/01/2011)
WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's basketball team held University of Southern Maine scoreless for the five minute overtime period and Mike Russell (Wellesley, Mass.) had 21 points and 14 rebounds as the Mules took a 67-55 non-conference victory Tuesday night at Wadsworth Gymnasium.
