Men's Crew—2006-07 Season Overview

2007-08 Season Outlook
The Colby men's crew begins the fall season in October with the Textile River Regatta, the New Hampshire Championships, and the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta.

The 2006-07 season was one in which seniors through first-year rowers made significant contributions to the team and to boat speed. With their years of experience the older athletes were able to lead, while the younger rowers made significant strides in skill, fitness, and leadership over the course of the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

The spring racing season featured a series of close races against the perennially strong competition found within the NESCAC. Highlights include capturing the CBB (Colby-Bates-Bowdoin) championship, a ninth-place finish at the New England Rowing Championships, and a subsequent selection to the ECAC National Invitational Regatta. With a strong group of juniors and the return of many key underclassmen, the team looks forward to continued success for 2007-08.

2006-07 Season Recap
The highlight of the season for men’s crew may have been winning the varsity eight race to help the Colby crews join forces to win the Presidents Cup over Bates and Bowdoin.

The men also finished 11th at the New England Championships and 13th at the ECAC National Invitational.

Coxswain Michelle Easton and Sam Fabens were named to the NESCAC Spring All-Academic Team.

Men’s crew also had a limited fall schedule before taking on the busy spring schedule. The varsity eight took fifth in the Textile River Regatta, eighth in the New Hampshire Championships, and 18th out of 51 boats at the Head of the Charles.
