Coach Tortorella's Recruiting Philosophy "Winning is the result of many things that have evolved beforehand," says Tortorella. "The foundation is being a good person and working hard. The outcomes will take care of themselves." Part of Tortorella's unique approach to making sure that his players are "good people" is his Kid on the Bench Program. Area youngsters enter their names in a raffle in the hope that they will be selected to assist the team with water and towels during home games. Tortorella believes both the kids and players benefit from the program. "The kids' presence forces our players to be conscientious about being role models regardless of whether we win or lose. It's about trying to use hockey as a vehicle to enhance character." "Recruiting good people is first and foremost to building a successful program," Tortorella says. "The cornerstone of the Mules program has been the quality people we attract to Colby's serious academic and athletic environment. I don't want just good hockey players. I want individuals committed to becoming the best people they possibly can become." Roster Breakdown by State/Province
