WATERVILLE, Maine --- Nick Lanza (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Mike Doherty (Lynnfield, Mass.) both had one goal and one assist for Colby College, but Hamilton College held on for a 3-2 win over the Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night at Alfond Rink.
Joe Quattrocchi (Kanata, Ontario) made 31 saves in net for the Continentals.
Hamilton (5-4-1 overall, 2-4 NESCAC) led 2-1 after two periods and then Anthony Ruberto (Stoney Creek, Ontario) tallied just 40 seconds into the third period for a 3-1 margin.
The Mules (3-7, 1-6), though, won the face-off and scored just 11 seconds later when Doherty had his third goal of the season.
Quattrocchi made 16 of the 31 saves in the third period as the Mules had a 17-9 shot advantage in the final 20 minutes.
Hamilton went up 2-0 after the first period on a short-handed goal by Bryan Kelly (Plymouth, Mass.) at 13:59 and then a score by Mike DiMare (Medford, Mass.) at 16:12.
Colby's other goal came at 5:52 of the second period when Lanza scored his third goal.
