Men's hockey wins shot battle, loses game

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Despite a 44-20 advantage in shots for Colby College, Tufts University goaltender Scott Barchard (Reading, Mass.) was up to the task with 43 saves as the Jumbos took a 3-1 win against the Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference men's hockey Saturday at Alfond Rink.
The Jumbos scored in each period in moving to 4-5 overall this season, while the Mules fell to 2-6.
Evan Story (Shaker Heights, Ohio) and Tyler Voigt (Rochester, Minn.) each had one goal and one assist for Tufts. Story tallied at 17:15 for the lone goal of the first period.
The Mules tied the game 5:18 into the second period when defensemen Tom McGinn (St. Albans, Vt.) scored his first of the season.
Story assisted on Garrett Sider's fourth goal of the season at 16:35 of the second period. Voigt added a short-handed goal at 3:42 of the final period to close out the scoring.
