Men's hockey drops game at Conn College

NEW LONDON, Conn. --- After battling to a 2-1 deficit after one period, the Colby College men's hockey team stumbled in the second period as Connecticut College took control on the way to a 7-2 victory in NESCAC play Friday night.

The Camels (2-4-1 overall, 1-3-1 NESCAC) scored four straight goals, including two shorthanded scores to go up 6-1. Colby falls to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the league heading into the final game of the first semester at Tufts University on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Connecticut College went ahead for good just 2:12 into the first period on Sean Murray's goal from Sebastian Meltzer and Zach Jones. Meltzer made it 2-0 at 9:25 from Murray.

Colby's Ray Zeek cut the deficit in half with his second goal of the year at 16:04 off the third assist of the season from Scott Harff.

The Camels scored within 2:30 of each period. Dawson Luke put his team up 3-1 with his fifth goal. Connecticut College then scored two shorthanded goals in a row at 7:43 (Mike Sinsigalli) and 13:15 (Jones). 

The teams traded goals the rest of the second period. The Camels went up 6-1 on JR LaPointe's goal at 16:12. Colby received its second goal at 17:51 from first-year defensemen Jonathan Sdao on an assist from Nick Lanza.

The Camels scored quickly again at 57 seconds of the third period for the final goal of the game.
