WATERVILLE, Maine --- After falling 6-3 earlier in the season to Hamilton College, the Colby College men's hockey team earned a little revenge and an important 5-1 New England Small College Athletic Conference win over the Continentals on Friday night at Alfond Rink.
The Mules move to 4-13-2 overall and 2-10-1 in the NESCAC. Hamilton falls to 5-11-3 overall and 3-8-2 in the conference. Colby will entertain Amherst College at 3 p.m. Saturday, while Hamilton plays at Bowdoin College at 3 p.m.
Colby had five different scorers in the game and had three lines contribute at least one goal.
After a scoreless opening period, Robert McCormick (Laconia, N.H.) scored at 2:09 of the second period from Matt Gelnaw (Verona, N.J.) and Jack Bartlett (Lynn, Mass.). McCormick scored his fourth goal of the season.
Cory McGrath (Yarmouthport, Mass.) scored on the power play and had the eventual game-winning goal from Ben Chwick (Purchase, N.Y.) and Nick Lanza (Rocky Hill, Conn.) at 13:31. Chwick had his 11th assist of the season.
Hamilton made it a 2-1 game after two periods with a goal just 3:06 after McGrath's tally. Dom Jancaterino (Needham, Mass.) scored his seventh of the season from Tyler Lovejoy (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Pat Curtis (Ashland, Mass.).
Chwick added an insurance goal at 9:51 of the third period, his sixth of the season from McGrath (11 assists) and Lanza (10 assists).
Ray Zeek (Wallingford, Conn.) made it 4-1 with just 4:58 left in the game from Nick Kondiles (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Nate Morgan (Hamilton, Mass.). Bartlett added an empty net tally with just 23 seconds to play from Gelnaw and Nick Trepp (Greenwich, Conn.).
Sam Parker (Cambridge, Mass.), back from an injury for the Mules, stopped 21 shots in goal. Joe Quattrocchi (Kanata, Ont.) had 29 stops for Hamilton.
