WATERVILLE, Maine --- Mike Doherty went over 90 career points and the Colby College men's hockey team had a reversal of fortune against Trinity College with a 7-4 victory over the Bantams in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Friday night.
The Mules (6-14 overall, 3-12 NESCAC) fell 7-4 to Trinity earlier this year in Hartford. The Bantams drop to 8-10-2 overall and 5-8-2 in the league.
Doherty had one goal and two assists to move his career totals at Colby to 37 goals and 55 assists for 92 career points.
Scott Harff added two goals for the Mules, who led 2-0 after one period and 4-1 after two. Nils Martin, Dan Nelson, Nate Morgan, and Chris Buonomo also tallied for the Mules.
Jeffrey Menard, Charlie Mullan, Samuel Kane, and Paul Burns had goals for the Bantams. Mullan, Kane, and Burns scored three straight goals in the third period to cut Colby's lead to 5-4 with 11:30 to play. Morgan scored the biggest goal of his young career at 13:23 to put the Mules back up by two at 6-4 and then Buonomo sealed it with an empty net goal.
Matt Delaney had 34 saves in goal for the Mules, who are 3-1 in their last four games.
