Men's hockey settles for 2-2 tie with Wesleyan

WATERVILLE, Maine --- Cory McGrath (Yarmouthport, Mass.) scored with 7:53 left in regulation to give Colby College a 2-1 lead, but Tommy Hartnett (Bronxville, N.Y.) tallied with just 15 seconds to play as Wesleyan University fought back for a 2-2 overtime tie with the Mules in New England Small College Athletic Conference men's hockey Saturday.
Wesleyan moved to 11-9-2 overall and 6-8-2 in the NESCAC, while the Mules are 6-14-1 overall and 3-12-1 in the league. Colby is 3-1-1 over its last five games.
Colby goaltender Matt Delaney (Houston, Texas) finished with 38 saves, while Wesleyan's Glenn Stowell (Hadley, Mass.) also played well with 30 stops.
The Cardinals went in front first at 6:25 of the first period on a goal by Adam Kaiser (Stony Point, N.Y.), with assists from John Guay (North Scituate, R.I.) and Casey Fratkin (Burnaby, B.C.).
Colby defensemen Tom McGinn, one of seven seniors playing his final home game at Alfond Rink, tied the game at 16:57 of the opening period from Ben Chwick (Purchase, N.Y.) and Anthony Raymond (Grosse Pointe, Mich.).
McGrath's goal put the Mules in front for the first time at 12:07 from senior Chris Buonomo (Edison, N.J.) and Scott Harff (Watertown, N.Y.).
Wesleyan pulled Stowell with 1:05 remaining in regulation and notched the equalizer from Hartnett. Nik Tasiopoulos (Norwell, Mass.) and Keith Buehler (Skaneateles, N.Y.) had the assists.
