WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College senior forward Mike Doherty (Exeter Academy/Lynnfield, Mass.) is one of 18 semifinalists for the prestigious Joe Concannon Award, presented annually to the best American-born college men's hockey player in New England playing at the NCAA Division II/III level.
The 18 nominees represent all five conferences in New England. The New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) has five players honored.
The Gridiron Club of Boston plans to announce the finalists and winner of the 12th annual award in March, prior to the start of the NCAA Frozen Four Tournament play. The award will presented during the New England Hockey Writers dinner in mid-April.
Doherty led the Mules in scoring this season with 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points. He finished his career at Colby with 38 goals and 56 assists for 94 points.
