WATERVILLE, Maine --- Eric Barthold (Lyme, N.H.) and Andrew Woonton (Boxford, Mass.) had second-half goals as the Colby College men's soccer team pulled away for a 3-1 non-conference win over Husosn University on Wednesday.

Colby improves to 1-1 overall and will play at Middlebury College on Saturday at 11 a.m., while Husson falls to 2-3-1 and will be back in Waterville on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game at Thomas College.

After the two teams battled to a 1-1 halftime tie, Barthold notched the game-winning goal on a pretty passing sequence. Colby forward Nick Aubin (Simsbury, Conn.) had a cross from the left side that found Jeremy Lachtrupp (Stowe, Vt.) for a header off a bounce. Lachtrupp headed it perfectly to Barthold, who was running up the middle for the goal just 3:52 into the second half.

Two first-year players combined on the Mules' third goal with 19:04 remaining. Andrew Woonton (Boxford, Mass.) and Jon Stronach (Concord, Mass.) used a give-and-go to combine for the score. Woonton dribbled in, pushed the ball to Stronach, and then immediately got the ball back for his first collegiate goal.

Stronach, who had his first collegiate assist on the Woonton goal, helped set up Colby's first goal when he was taken down in the penalty area. Junior midfielder Andrew Meisel (Newtown, Conn.) ripped the penalty kick into the left corner of the net to help the Mules tie the game at 1-1 with about 12 minutes left in the opening half.

Husson scored the first goal of the game when Greg Dawson (St. Andrew, Scotland) scored 28:12 into the first half. Philip Frost (Bangor, Maine) started the play by getting free near the end line and made a low cross in front of the net to Dawson for the score.

Ben Joslin (Chicago, Ill.) had three saves in 83:26 for the Mules and Peter Quayle (Lincoln, Mass.) stopped one shot in the final 6:34. Mason Smith (Houma, La.) stopped six shots for Husson.

The Mules had a 21-8 shot advantage and a 10-3 margin in corner kicks.
