Good first half for men's soccer in loss to Amherst

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's soccer team battled to a 0-0 tie with fourth-ranked Amherst College in the first half, but the Lord Jeffs scored three times in the final 45 minutes in a 3-0 New England Small College Athletic Conference win Saturday.
Max Fikke (New York, N.Y.) came off the bench to score the first goal of the game at 50:53 of the contest for Amherst.
The Lord Jeffs stay unbeaten on the season at 10-0-1 overall and 6-0-1 in the NESCAC before Sunday's 1 p.m. game at Bowdoin College. The Mules, now 6-5 overall and 2-5 in conference play, will entertain Hamilton College in another league contest at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
Spencer Noon (Farmington, Conn.) had the other two goals for the Lord Jeffs at 67:30 and 75:20.
Lennard Kovacs (Wolfersdorf, Germany) made three saves in 84:30 for Amherst. Ben Joslin (Chicago, Ill.), who had four saves for Colby, had his shutout streak stopped at 348 minutes, 32 seconds when Fikke scored.
