Men's soccer drops league game to Polar Bears

WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Colby College men's soccer team fell behind less than 10 minutes into the game and Bowdoin College added a penalty kick in the second half on the way to a 2-0 win in NESCAC play Saturday.
 
Eddie Jones (Scarborough, Maine) scored 8:45 into the game with what proved to be the game-winning goal.
 
The Polar Bears moved to 7-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in conference play. Colby, which plays host to Wesleyan University on Sunday at 1:30 p.m., falls to 3-4-2 overall and 0-3-2 in the league.
 
Jones scored off a pass from the corner from Andrew Jones (Scarborough, Maine).
 
The two teams combined for just 14 shots in the game and the contest stayed 1-0 in Bowdoin's favor to halftime.
 
Eric Goitia (Yorba Linda, Calif.) converted a penalty kick 14 minutes into the second half to give the Polar Bears a two-goal margin.
 
Will Wise (Cohasset, Mass.) stopped just two shots in earning the shutout. The Polar Bears have allowed just one goal over the past eight games. Cody Funkhouser (Hopwell, N.J.) also had two saves for the Mules.
