AMHERST, Mass. --- Coby College's defense kept the Mules in the game for 90 minutes against second-ranked Amherst College, but the Lord Jeffs scored about three minutes into the game and with about three minutes left for a 2-0 NESCAC men's soccer victory Saturday.

Amherst moved to 10-0-1 overall and 5-0-1 in league play, while the Mules fell to 3-6-2 overall and 0-5-2 in the conference. Colby plays another league game Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at Hamilton College.

Brian Morgan gave the Lord Jeffs the early lead at 3:08 off an assist from Spencer Noon. However, Colby's defense stood firm after that and kept things interesting. The Mules have allowed just 11 goals in 11 games and just five NESCAC goals in regulation time.

Despite a 22-3 shot advantage for the Lord Jeffs, Colby goalkeeper Cody Funkhouser was credited with just one save. Thomas Bull had to make no saves in earning the shutout.

Julien Aoyama scored unassisted with 2:27 remaining in the contest.
