Smith finishes fine career with tough loss

AMHERST, Mass. --- Harry Smith (Locust Valley, N.Y.), who has been sitting at the top spot for the Colby College men's squash team for four years, ended his collegeiate career Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Trinity College's Juan Flores in a second round consolation match at the College Squash Association National Individual Championships.
 
Smith, a four-time All-New England Small College Athletic Conference selection, finished his career at Colby with a 78-42 record while playing against the best collegiate squash players in the country at the first position. He was 19-16 this season.
 
Smith won the first game against Flores with an 11-6 win, but fell 11-6 in the second game. Flores won the important third game by an 11-8 score. Smith battled hard and won 11-8 in the fourth game to send the match to a fifth and final game. Flores hung on for an 11-9 win to advance.
