Galea helps Mules take ninth at NESCAC meet

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. --- Vincent Galea finished sixth in the 100-yard freestyle and helped a relay team place sixth as the Colby College men moved up one spot and finished ninth at the New England Small College Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships on Sunday night.

The Mules finished ninth out of 11 teams with 502 points to edge past host Wesleyan University (481.5). The Mules were 23 points behind eighth place Hamilton.
Galea had a 46.17 in the 100 freestyle prelim and went 46.21 in the championship final. He teamed with Jack Mauel, Ryan Bachur, and Paul Wennberg for a 3:10.21 finish in the 400 freestyle relay.
Mauel was 13th in the 200 butterfly, Ethan Johnson took 15th in 3-meter diving (221.75 points) and teammate Liam Connell was 16th with 169.65 points, and Wennberg added a 16th in the 200 breaststroke (2:09.61 prelim).
