Men's soccer hurt by second half goals

WATERVILLE, Maine --- David LaRocca (Sparta, N.J.) scored the eventual game-winning goal about 16 minutes into the second half as the 20th-ranked Middlebury College men's soccer team took a 2-0 win over Colby College in New England Small College Athletic Conference play Saturday.
LaRocca scored off an assist from Casey Ftorek (Wolfeboro, N.H.). The Panthers added an insurance goal when Vandy Shanholt (Hillsborough, Calif.) tallied with just 2:12 left in the game.
Zack Toth (Carlisle, Mass.) had two saves to earn the shutout for Middlebury (6-1, 3-1 NESCAC). Josh Kahane (Newton, Mass.) stopped a penalty kick in the first half and finished with three stops for Colby (2-2-2, 1-2-1 NESCAC).
