WATERVILLE, Maine ---Ten Colby College athletes were honored Thursday by being named to the New England Small College Athletic Conference Spring All-Sportsmanship Team. Junior baseball player Nick Ruocco (Lexington, Mass.), senior softball player Tory Starr (Dunbarton, N.H.), sophomore women’s lacrosse player Mary Cummings (Summit, N.J.), senior men’s lacrosse player Jason Forino (Sudbury, Mass.), senior men’s rower Trevor Hardigan (Savannah, Ga.), senior women’s rower Marissa Onaga (Wailuku, Hawaii), senior men’s tennis player Nick Rosen-Wachs (Scarsdale, N.Y.), first-year women’s tennis player Kathryn Vergeyle (Orono, Maine), first-year men’s track and field athlete Justin Rouse (Eliot, Maine), and senior women’s track and field athlete Jennifer MacDowell (Portland, Maine) were the Colby athletes honored. Vergeyle and Rouse were just two of seven first-year NESCAC athletes named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, while Cummings was one of seven sophomores honored. There were 100 NESCAC athletes recognized on the team. The NESCAC All-Sportsmanship Team is selected by players and coaches from their respective teams for their positive contributions to sportsmanship.
