LAKE PLACID, N.Y. --- Vincent Lebrun-Fortin placed third in the slalom for the Colby College men's alpine team and the women's squad placed five skiers in the top 32 during the second day of skiing at the St. Lawrence University Ski Carnival on Saturday at Whiteface Mountain.

Lebrun-Fortin had runs of 47.01 and 50.60 for a two-run total time of 1:37.61. He was in second place after the opening run. Lebrun-Fortin helped the Mules take fifth out of 10 squads in the team score. Colby was a little unlucky after Josh Kernan and Brian Morgan both had solid first runs and had problems on their second time down the hill. Kernan had a 48.16 on his opening run – better than the eventual fourth-place finisher. Meanwhile, Morgan also was strong with a 48.68 on the first run.

First-year women's skier Maddie Strachota finished 18th in 1:56.00 and teammate Dana Breakstone took 22nd place. The Mules took sixth place with good balance as Katie Houser (27th), Cassady Roberts (30th), and Natalie Biedermann (32nd) had solid runs.
