Morgan, Strachota lead alpine ski teams

HANOVER, N.H. ---  After two straight victories in the slalom, the Colby College men's alpine team had a bit of bad luck going for a third win of the season at the Dartmouth College Ski Carnival at Dartmouth Skiway on Friday.

Brian Morgan put together two fine runs of 46.97 and 45.50 for a two-run total time of 1:32.47 to finish in ninth place for the Colby men. However, the rest of the team had its struggles. Vincent Lebrun-Fortin did not finish his first run, while Josh Kernan had problems on his second run after having a 46.56 on his opening run. Justin Sperry was 30th for the Mules and Kernan took 31st place.

For the Colby women, Maddie Strachota had the fourth-best second run of the day at 52.72 and had a 52.27 on her opening run to total a 1:44.99 in taking 11th place. Cassady Roberts placed 25th and Natalie Biedermann was 26th for the Mules. Dana Breakstone had a great opening run of 50.78 only to have problems on her second run in taking 30th place.
