Massie, Biedermann lead alpine teams in GS

NEWRY, Maine --- Marc Massie took 18th place in the giant slalom for the Colby College men's alpine ski team and Natalie Biedermann placed 23rd for the women at the Eastern Championships (Bates Carnival) on Sunday at Sunday River.

Massie had times of 1:15.28 and 1:14.92 for a two-run total time of 2:30.20 to help Colby finish ninth. Brian Morgan had a 1:15.50 on his opening run only to have problems on his second trip down the hill. Jim Ryan also had some problems on his first run before finishing with a team-best 1:13.92 on the second run.

Natalie Biedermann took 23rd place for the ninth place Colby women with a 2:37.10 total. Michelle Seares was 31st for the Mules in 2:40.41.
