STOWE, Vt. --- The Colby College men's alpine team made it two slalom team victories in a row after winning again at the University of Vermont Ski Carnival at Stowe on Saturday.

The Mules, who had never won an alpine men's ski carnival race heading into this year, have now won two of the first three slalom races of the season. Colby had 107 points to edge out University of New Hampshire (106) in the 10-team field.

Vincent Lebrun-Fortin continued his fine start to the season by placing second overall with runs of 49.42 and 50.10 for a two-run total time of 1:39.52. He was third in the slalom when the Mules won at Saint Michael's two weeks ago (the teams did not compete last weekend). Josh Kernan placed seventh with a 1:40.65 total and first-year Marc Massie was strong again in 16th place at 1:42.64.

"One win during the carnival season is something special, but two for the men in back-to-back slaloms is something extraordinary that these athletes are putting together," Colby head coach Danny Noyes said. "Josh and Vince are tremendous leaders who lead by example. They are extremely intelligent within the sport and it's fun watching both of them push so hard to see what they are capable of."

The men somewhat overshadowed the best effort of the season by the Colby women. Dana Breakstone placed seventh overall with runs of 52.98 and 51.53 for a 1:44.51 finish. Cassady Roberts took 15th place in 1:48.01 and Lauren McGrath was 26th with a 1:53.50 finish.
