PHOENIX, Ariz. --- Nick Spillane's bases loaded single brought in Brian Liberty with the the game-winning run as the Colby College baseball team earned an 8-7 win in eight innings over Oberlin College on Sunday.
Oberlin took a 6-1 win in the opener of the doubleheader.
Jordan Henry and Robert Whelan each had fine relief pitching stints to help the Mules (1-3) pull out the win. With Oberlin up 7-5, Henry entered the game and allowed no runs until Whelan took over in the eighth and got the victory.
Spillane, Andy Carr and Brian Liberty all had two hits for Colby. Ryan Conlon added a triple and two RBI in the second game.
Oberlin's Jack Dunn tossed a two-hitter in the opener. Colby starter Justin Clark also went the distance and did not give up a run until the fifth inning.
