FORT MYERS, Fla. --- Richard Newton had five hits in the second game and Nikolas Atsalis had two RBI in each contest as the Colby College baseball team took 9-7 and 7-5 victories over Carroll College in a doubleheader Friday in non-conference play at Terry Park in Florida.

Newton had a triple among his five hits in the second game, Jake Kramer had three hits, and Nathan Ellis had two singles. Atsalis finished with a  pair of RBI for the Mules (4-6).

Brady Hesslein worked 6.1 innings, allowed three runs, struck out four and walked two for Colby in the nightcap.

In the first game, Atsalis had a double among his two hits and drove in a pair. Robb Arndt also doubled and had two hits, while Brandon Nieuw and John Schroeder each singled twice.

The Mules fell behind 5-0 after two innings of the opener, but battled back with four runs in the third. Abhi Chandel entered the game in the third inning and picked up the win in relief.
