PHOENIX, Ariz. --- First-year pitcher Matt Moore worked six innings to earn the win as the Colby College baseball team battled from behind for a 6-4 win over MIT in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday at the Greater Phoenix Invitational.
The Mules (2-7) fell 7-6 to MIT in the opener. In the second game, Michael Cuqua, Craig Cooper and John LaMantia all had two hits for Colby. MIT had taken a 4-0 lead after two innings, but the Mules got four runs in the fifth inning and two more in the sixth. LaMantia had a two-run double in the fifth inning, while Cuqua had run-scoring singles in both innings. Cooper had three hits in the first game for Colby. The Mules also fought back in that game after falling behind 6-0. Colby had five runs in the bottom of the second and one in the fourth to tie the game at 6-6. MIT got the eventual game-winning run in the fifth inning.
