WATERVILLE, Maine --- Chris DeGoti (Miami, Fla.) picked up the save in each game as the Tufts University baseball team clinched a spot in the New England Small College Athletic Conference playoffs with a doubleheader sweep of Colby College on Saturday at Coombs Field. Tufts moved to 16-15 overall and 7-5 in the NESCAC East, while Colby falls to 5-21 overall and 1-11 in the conference. DeGoti earned his fourth and fifth saves of the season. He entered the game in the fifth inning and closed out an 8-4 win in the opener and then came into the second game in the eighth inning and finished a 10-8 victory in the nightcap. John LaMantia (Gates Mills, Ohio) had three hits for Colby in the first game. John Lerner (Canton, Mass.) and Taro Gold (Belmont, Mass.) both had two hits, one run, and one walk for the Mules. Mike Mastrocola (Southbury, Conn.) had a pair of doubles and two RBI for Colby in the second game. Craig Cooper doubled among his two hits and had two RBI, while Ryan Conlon (Ridgefield, Conn.) had a two-run double.
