WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College women’s basketball player Alison Cappelloni (Lincoln-Sudbury/Sudbury, Mass.) was named to the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA) Honor Roll for her play for the week ending Feb. 8.
Cappelloni, a junior forward, had two double-double games in scoring and rebounding in a 2-0 week against New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) opponents. She had a game-high 20 points and added 11 rebounds in a 74-72 win over Williams College and then had 11 points and 10 rebounds in a 62-45 victory against Middlebury.
Cappelloni is Colby’s all-time made 3-point field goal shooter with 115 in her three-year career. She has 809 career points and 421 rebounds. Cappelloni is averaging 10.9 points, 5.6 rebounds, and leads the Mules with 33 made 3-point field goals. She also is tough at the foul line at 84 percent (26-for-31).
Colby is 12-9 overall and 3-4 in the NESCAC heading into the final weekend of regular season league games. The Mules play at Connecticut College at 7 p.m. Friday and then travel to Wesleyan University for a 3 p.m. game Saturday.
The NEWBA selects a Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, and five-player honor roll each Monday.
