WATERVILLE, Maine --- Colby College men’s basketball player Adam Choice (St. Georges School/Newport, R.I.) was named the Maine Men’s Basketball Coaches and Writers Association Player of the Week for the third time this season on Wednesday.
Choice, a junior forward, averaged 19 points and 8.3 rebounds while shooting 63 percent (22-for-35) from the field in a 3-0 week for the Mules. He helped Colby overcome an early 23-10 deficit with 16 of his game-high 28 points in the second half to lead the Mules to a 68-56 win over Wesleyan University. Choice also shot 10-for-13 from the field, pulled down 12 rebounds, and added a pair of blocked shots.
Choice started the week with 21 points and six rebounds in a 63-58 non-conference win over Thomas College. He added eight points, seven rebounds, two blocked shots, and two steals in a 61-47 victory over Connecticut College.
In the latest New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) standings, Choice ranks fifth in scoring (16.0), sixth in free throw percentage (.816), 10th in steals (1.21), and 11th in rebounding (5.6). Choice has 1,068 points and 482 rebounds in his career with the Mules.
Colby (17-7), the fourth seed, will play host to fifth-seeded Bowdoin College in a NESCAC quarterfinal playoff game this Saturday at 3 p.m.
