WATERVILLE, Maine --- After weeks of earning honors for his play, Colby College men's basketball player Adam Choice (St. George's School/Newport, R.I.) earned the ultimate one on Friday after being named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) 2010 State Farm Coaches' Division III All-America Team on Friday.
Choice, a senior guard/forward, was one of 24 players in NCAA Division III selected to the three eight-man teams. He was named to the third team and is just one of three New England Division III players honored along with Blake Schultz of Williams College and Noel Hollingsworth of MIT. Choice also was named to the NABC Northeast Region First Team.
"A great honor for a superb player," Colby head coach Dick Whitmore said. "Adam has had a great team and individual career and this is the crowning achievement."
Choice has earned numerous honors since Colby ended the season with a 19-6 record. He will be one of 20 players from across the country to play in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division III Senior All-Star Game on Saturday at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va., at 10:30 a.m.
Choice also was named Wednesday to the D3hoops.com All-Northeast Region First Team and to the ECAC Division III New England Third Team. He has already been selected as the Maine State Division III Player of the Year for the third time in a row and was on the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) First Team All-Conference squad.
Choice finished his career ranked eighth all-time in scoring for Colby with 1,534 points. He also had 654 rebounds, 185 assists, 134 steals, and 95 blocked shots during his four years.
In the latest NESCAC statistics, Choice ranks tied for second in scoring (18.3), eighth in assists (3.4), ninth in blocked shots (1.04), tied for ninth in steals (1.16), and 10th in rebounding (6.7).
